App privacy
What the SurinaamseGids app for iPhone and Android does and does not do with your data.
In short: you don't need an account to use the app. The app does not collect your location, contacts or photos, contains no third-party advertising or tracking software and sells nothing on. What you save stays only on your device.
What stays only on your device
- Saved jobs and businesses. This list is stored only on your device and disappears when you delete the app.
- Recently viewed data. The app keeps the most recently loaded lists for one day, so you can view them without internet.
Job alerts (push notifications)
When you turn on a job alert, the app first asks for permission. We then store on our server:
- your device's push address (a code from Expo, Apple or Google that lets us send a notification; not a phone number or name);
- the type of device (Android or iPhone);
- the category and district you choose;
- which jobs we have already sent you, so you never get duplicates.
Notifications are sent via Expo's push service, which passes them on to Apple (iPhone) or Google (Android). You receive at most one notification per day.
Delete it yourself: remove an alert in the app under My guide > Job alerts. If you turn off notifications or delete the app, we automatically delete your push address and alerts as soon as the push service reports that the address no longer exists.
Logging in, posting and reviews
Logging in, posting a business or job and writing a review happen on surinaamsegids.com, in the browser within the app. Our general privacy statement applies to this.
Delete account
Do you have an account on surinaamsegids.com and want it deleted? Send an email from your account's email address to info@surinaamsegids.com with the subject Account verwijderen (delete account). Within 30 days we delete:
- your account, name, email address and password;
- your email job alerts;
- listings, jobs and ads linked only to your account, unless you ask us to keep or transfer them.
We keep invoices and payment records as long as the law requires. Reviews you wrote remain anonymously, or we delete them if you ask.
Calling, emailing and directions
When you tap Call, WhatsApp, Mail or Directions, the app opens your phone's own app for that. What you do there does not go through us.
Technical data
Like any website, our server receives your IP address when data is loaded. We only use it to limit abuse (a maximum number of requests) and do not store it with your data.
